LOS ANGELES – The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) on Thursday praised the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for adopting ambitious and achievable climate targets, hailing the vote as a win for regional collaboration and long-term sustainability in the state.

Since Senate Bill 375 was passed in 2009, CARB has set and periodically updated targets at both the state and regional level for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. CARB has been working on an update to the target for the past year and, after a long collaborative process with state and regional leaders, has chosen an ambitious and achievable target for Southern California’s emission reduction.
