ABOUT THE SUMMIT

There is a chronic shortage of housing throughout California. Major institutions, employers, and startups cite lack of housing options as a serious impediment to recruiting and retaining talent. The impact of housing affordability is a critical challenge to local, regional, and Statewide economies, particularly as people from all income groups are increasingly frustrated with the lack of affordable options to rent or buy and instead opt to develop their careers in more affordable areas. The California Housing Summit will focus on resources and opportunities created by State legislation and local policies to build more housing, including affordable housing, and will provide innovative tools to get to YES for housing development in local communities. The program will also include speakers on funding infrastructure to support housing and how to convey the health, economic, and accessibility benefits to communities. Hundreds of stakeholders are expected to attend, including elected officials, city managers, planning directors, public health communities, home builders, developers, business and community leaders, and housing advocates.
