Government, Public & Regional Affairs
The primary responsibility of the Government, Public, and Regional Affairs department
is to maintain and expand governmental, community and private sector
participation in the regional planning work of the Southern California
Association of Governments. This is accomplished by working with cities
and counties, local government officials, community and business interest
groups, and the news media.
The specific charges of the department include Media and Public relations and Regional Services.

Media & Public Affairs Division
Media & Public Affairs is responsible for disseminating SCAG's messages by preparing brochures, newsletters, and presentations, facilitating news media requests and conducting news conferences, writing speeches, newspaper and magazine articles and broadcast public service announcements, conducting workshops and public hearings, managing the international visitors program, preparing and staffing exhibits for trade shows, and organizing community involvement groups. An integral part of these communications efforts is our in-house graphics staff who create many of the visual components. The Legislative/Communications & Membership Committee and the Regional Council provide policy guidance for the overall public communications and member relations efforts.

Office of the Regional Council Support
The Office of the Regional Council Support (ORCS) is a service division within SCAG, committed to providing professional service and support to the SCAG Officers, Regional Council members, Policy Committee members, SCAG staff and the public at large.

Regional Services Division
Regional Services focuses on liaison activities regarding regional plans and projects
with City Councils, Boards of Supervisors, and other local agency governing boards;
scheduling technical planning workshops, conducting one-on-one meetings with local elected
official, and organizing community outreach forums on regional issues. Regional Services
is responsible for member retention and recruitment of cities and counties. Staff also
works closely with the Associations subregional planning partners, including councils
of government and groups of cities from designated geographic subregions of Southern California.
