The Regional Economy website, part of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) website, highlights the work done by SCAG's Economic Development staff and makes available the vast economic and demographic data available for the SCAG region, counties, subregions, and cities.

The What's New page contains the report and slide shows from our most recent Economic Forecast Conference for Southern California. This page also alerts you to new reports and the latest updates that we have made to our data sets.

The Economic Development section of SCAG regularly presents conferences on important regional economic issues. The Events page presents the reports and slide shows presented at these conferences.

The Regional Economic Strategy Guidelines page presents the economy chapter of SCAG's 2000 Regional Comprehensive Plan and Guide.

The Economic and Demographic Data page is a treasure chest of information. This page has electronic data sets available on the Internet only at this site. Data categories include Population, Employment, and Unemployment, Average Firm Size, Housing, and Agricultural Productions, just to name a few. In most cases, data is presented on the regional, subregional, county, and city-level for Southern California.

Employment Trends Monthly page presents the most recent wage and salary employment, comparative unemployment rates between the region and the U.S., and current employment and change in employment by major sector for the SCAG region and the SCAG counties. This page also presents the most current monthly employment and unemployment statistics by SCAG county, subregion, and city and 1990 census employment and unemployment ratio by SCAG county and city.

The Data Sources page contains links to numerous sites where we access data on a regular basis.

The Publications Archives page contains past reports and past issues of Employment Trends Monthly. Reports include The New Economy and Jobs/Housing Balance in Southern California and The Southwest Compact.
