CalEPA Environmental Health Screening Tool Workshop

The Office of Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) within the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) has developed a proposed method for evaluating the cumulative impacts of pollution on communities, known as the California Communities Environmental Health Screening Tool (CalEnviroScreen). SCAG held a workshop on December 12, 2012 in cooperation with other interested stakeholders (such as the League, CSAC, etc.) intended to offer business, local governments and other stakeholders the opportunity to receive relevant information and provide input to Cal/EPA on the draft California Communities Environmental Health Screening Tool. The workshop was well attended with several members of the Regional Council, staff from various jurisdictions and agencies, and representatives of interesting groups and other stakeholders participating in the workshop. Our members and stakeholders engaged in a constructive question and answer session with Cal/EPA. SCAG will set up another workshop in late January next year to continue the dialogue with Cal/EPA upon release of the revised tool in early January.
