Emerging Technologies Committee

The Emerging Technologies Committee researches and identifies new and emerging technologies that play an important role in the Connect SoCal Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy and is a resource to the three policy committees.

Framework:

Identify technological and societal trends (e.g. Mobility as a Service, Zero Emission, Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, and Smart Cities and Intelligent Transportation Systems) that could fundamentally alter the use of the region’s transportation system.
Frame potential policy considerations to enable the region to harness benefits of emerging technologies that can improve development patterns, vehicle miles traveled, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Highlight opportunities for under-represented and disadvantaged communities to use emerging technologies.
Explore technologies that, while in an early stage of development, remain relevant to the future of the region’s transportation system.
